It is hard to believe that another school year has ended. In fact, it is hard to believe that I have taught for 5 years! This was an especially difficult year to say goodbye to my students and parents because I had known many of the families for two years (I switched from 2nd to 3rd grade this year). Now that a fabulous school year has ended, summer can begin.
It has been a great start to the summer! Last night my brother stayed with us. Since I cooked dinner I told my husband and my brother they had to play whatever game I wanted and I chose Mario Party. See I love this game and no one ever wants to play with me. I don't really know why I love it so much because I always lose to my brothers- ALWAYS. Growing up with 2 brothers pretty much guaranteed me that I would never win at any video game ever. Well I have to toot my own horn because I WON! That's right I smoked David and Alex! It was a very rewarding feeling! Then this morning started with a Zumba class with a friend, followed by laying out reading a good book, and will end with a girls night. Talk about a good day!

Notebook Drama
This is for my teacher friends and kindred spirits, only you will understand!
Last year I got a cute notebook from a student and thought I would use it as my back to school notebook- see each new school year I get a new notebook (thanks to Jenn and Alyssa for getting me started with this!)but it is a certain kind. Well I thought "Hey I am teaching a a new grade I can have a new notebook." Well I couldn't be more wrong! It didn't work out so well, so I broke down and got the kind of notebook I wanted. I got home with it and today went to write in it when I realized the holes on the left side of the notebook were not even, that would not do, so I exchanged it today. The woman at customer service looked at me like I was an idiot but she let me exchange it. Now I am happy with my new notebook! Yes I know I have issues but some of you out there would have done the same thing I did, you know who you are!

Finished Bag
This past weekend I finished my bag! Teri did such a great job teaching and helping me. I love my new bag!
Lindsay and I with our material in the beginning
What the material became at the end
My finished bag- (it has pockets inside too)
The one on the left is Lindsay's, the middle is mine, and the one of the right is Teri's

Almost had a school year with no sick days
Okay this is huge for me- I almost made it an entire school year without taking one sick day! The reason this is big is because every year that I have been teaching I have had something. My first year speaks for itself- my immune system didn't know what hit it! Then the proceeding years I had my gallbladder taken out, had mono, the flu, etc. This year- nothing until Saturday. I should have seen it coming considering I had a student vomit in my classroom last week. On Saturday the stomach bug hit with vengeance. I think it made up for all the times I wasn't sick this year. I will skip over the awfulness of the stomach bug because no one wants to hear that. I ended up having to take my first sick day Monday. I cleaned my entire classroom Tuesday but two other students in the class have it too. This is why teachers and students are sick so much- they are in a room full of germs all day together and touch everything.
