Wedding Cake- Check, Register- Check

On Saturday David and I went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and began registering! It was so much fun to take the scanning gun and scan what we wanted. David was in charge of the gun and I was in charge of the check list (go figure me and a check list!). We registered for our bedding and bathroom sets. Our bedding set is navy and white and we both agreed on it fairly quickly. Then we did some of the kitchen gadgets and stuff. David found this pot holder in the shape of a shark so that is on our registry! He kept putting his hand in it and bitting my arm (yes he is 24) so I figure that will be the only use of it- to annoy me. I have always wanted a spice rack, so we registered for one of those. There are things that we didn't register for there so we will need to register at Sears or Target too. Since we have registered on Saturday I have already changed our list twice. I felt really grown up registering for things for my new home.

Last Tuesday (not this Tuesday because I was sick throwing up, trust me you don't want to hear that story) my mom and I went to Tinkers to talk about the wedding cake. We got to try 8 different types of cake! The one that we both liked the best is a white chocolate with raspberry filling. I am not a fan of cake  or white chocolate but this was absolutely delicious! Our second choice chocolate with the raspberry filling. So we will have both on the cake. We are going to do a small 3 tired cake and a sheet cake. The cake will be white with little pearls (dots) all around it. I am thinking about putting a yellow ribbon around the bottom of each layer and then pink roses around the cake. Our colors are watermelon(pink) and yellow. We have a monogrammed "A" for the topper (not for Abby, for Ames). It was really fun tasting all the cakes with my mom.

Next on the list is getting the Bridesmaid dresses and ordering the invitations. I already know which dress I like, I just need to have the girls try them on. I chose the invitations I like but my mom is going to take a sample to the post office to see how much postage would be.

Color of flowers, we are doing roses.

Good ending to a long day

I worked at school until 6 when Gayla (yes Gayla!) told me that it was time to go. I headed to Walmart to pick up wrapping paper and some odds and ends stuff because I figured after my long, exhausting day, wrapping Christmas presents would make me happy. I got home at 7:30, turned on ELF, light my Christmas candle (smells like a Christmas tree), and wrapped presents! It was a wonderfully relaxing and enjoying evening.

First Morning Of Thanksgiving Break

I slept in and I just finished the 4th Twilight book! I LOVED it!!! Now I am going to start the book for book club, Angels and Demons. I read it once but I don't remember it all so I need to read it again. It is a good book but not as good as Twilight. I am glad that I am finished but also sad too because now its done.... well I guess there is always the movies to look forward too and I will probably have to read the book again before the movie comes out so I guess I will be reading Twilight for a long time (kind of like Harry Potter)!

This week in review

1.) Who cares about Monday-Friday events until 9:51 pm ..... I saw Twilight!!!!!!!!!!!! It was amazing!!! I am even more obsessed then before and I am totally in love with Edward even more after seeing the movie. (Yes I am engaged and I love David too!) We were in line by 8:40 with all the crazy fans. The trailer to the next Harry Potter comes out during Twilight and it is fabulous too! The theater erupted in applause when they showed Edward and then several other times in the movie but I don't want to ruin it for you all who have not seen it yet. I left wanting to read the first book all over again, even though I am not finished with the fourth book. I want to finish the fourth book but I also don't want too because then they series will be over for me and I don't want that! At least I have the movies to look forward too! Ahh... just thinking about the movie makes me soooooo happy!

2.) I just submitted my final grad school assignment for the course I am taking 10 minutes ago. The final product is 30 pages, this includes graphs, charts, bulleted lists, and narratives. It is done and turned in, so I am free of that class!

3.) On Monday I booked our honeymoon (okay that was an important event this week..almost as important as Twilight). We are going to Jamaica and staying at a Sandals Resort called Dunn's River Villagio. It is all inclusive and includes: plane tickets, room for 5 nights, food, drinks, tips, and all activities. We are leaving at 7:10 am on June 7th and coming back June 12th. I am super excited! We only had to pay half, which was great because the full amount would have left my bank account hurting. Now I need to start getting in shape! Check out the resort:

Twilight

I officially have tickets to go see Twilight on its opening night!!! The only problem is I have a KRP meeting that same night, but I am wiling to leave early and sacrifice my grade (honestly it wont even matter) to see the movie. I just started the 4th book today. See, yesterday I went to the gym and wanted to read a book while on the exercise bike but I didn't have the new twilight so I had to read another book.... well I couldn't concentrate on the other book because I kept thinking about what happens to Bella and Edward. I have heard mixed things about the ending and I will be soooo bummed if I don't like the ending. Oh the agony! If you haven't read up to book 4 then stop reading this because I am going to talk about the book for a minute...........
Okay so I loved the wedding part because it made me so excited for my wedding. Now I have something in common with Bella, except that I am looking forward to my wedding and she wasn't. Well that's it, thats all I have to say about that.

Check Off those Wedding To Do's

I have made a huge progress in the wedding "to do" department! Today, David and I signed the contract for the reception and paid the deposit. Yesterday I sent in the contract for the photographer and the deposit. I met with another deejay on Sunday and decided to go with him, so he is sending me the contract in the mail. A trend seems to be $$$ and contracts!! The most important of all is...... I have a wedding dress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My cousin, Jill, got married in 2003 and I was  going into my freshman year of college. I remember how beautiful her dress was and I made the comment that I would love to wear her dress at my wedding. Well she remembered and called me a few weeks ago wanting to know if I would like to try on her wedding dress and that she would be honored if I wanted to wear it. Last Wednesday my mom and I went and had dinner with her and I tried on the dress and absolutely loved it! We are the same height and size so not alterations need to be done. My mom cried when I had it on and she was so excited. I think it is a beautiful dress. The funny thing is that when I was a kid I always wanted to dress like Jill, I basically wanted to be Jill, so I told her that I always wanted to dress like  her when I was little (her mom would make us matching outfits) it is only fitting that I dress like you on my wedding. I think it is really special for her. So now I have a dress! Next wedding to do: cake, flowers, look over guest list and start compiling addresses, and get bridesmaids dresses.

Wow I feel vain

So I woke up in a panic this morning at 7:30 because I felt like I had nothing to wear to my engagement party today! I went shopping yesterday and found a dress (and other things that I may or may not have needed) but then this morning I felt like it was too short. So at 7:30 on the day I could have slept in,  I am trying on the dress! I decided it is too short and I am going to take it back but now I am thinking about what I have that I can wear. This is so silly to be freating over what to wear but I am and I can't help it. I need my roommates to wake up so they can help me decide! The thing is I don't have to be there until 4:30, so I don't know why I am worrying about it now!

Wedding Plans

I feel like Monica from Friends when she yells "I'm Engaged!" over and over again! I just want to keep shouting it!!! Now I am the worst person at making decisions but I am sure that is about to change. I am going to have to get better at making decisions. I have made 4 decisions so far: the ceremony location, the reception location, the minister marrying me, and the date. I think those are some good decisions! I am getting married at Northeast Christian Church and having the reception at Four Points Sheraton. I have left messages for 3 photographers to meet with them. Then I am going to work on a Deejay. I have no idea what colors or anything yet. I finally took my ring to get it sized, but now my hand feels empty! The jewelry store gave me another diamond ring to wear until I get mine back! I wore it one day, but then decided I didn't want to wear it because it wasn't my ring. Here are some pictures Gayla took of the ring!

Florida Day 1

I left on Thursday July 31st with my family for our family vacation to Florida. We drove through the night, actually my dad and my brother drove through the night. At one point my dad pulled off at the Florida welcome center to nap for 2 hours. We arrived in Daytona around 10:30. We picked up my youngest brother in Daytona, he was there with church, and we headed to get food and then to the beach. I haven't been to the beach in 3 years so it was really nice to hang out there. My dad rented an umbrella and a beach chair and slept for hours on the chair! Here are some pictures of our day on the beach!

Derek and I buried ourselves in the sand!

Craziness!!

Who said summer was supposed to be relaxing?? It is fun, but I would not say relaxing! I feel like I can not relax at all because of the massive to do list I have. I even feel guilty taking time out to blog! On Wednesday I am moving into my new apartment, which means I have to pack up my old apartment. I have begun this process of packing and it STINKS!!! I have so much junk or stuff that I never use but still keep for some reason. For example, I just threw away my planners from freshman and sopmore year of college. Why did I keep these? Did I actually think I would go back and read what my assignments were or what I did? I threw them away, one day I might want them but oh well! I am giving away massive amounts of clothes and purses too. So by Wednesday I have to have my entire apartment packed. One Wednesday I have to move my entire apartment to the new place and begin the awful task of unpacking all the junk I just packed. Then on Thursday David and I are going to the aquarium, dinner, and a Reds game. Yes, this is bad timing but David's favorite baseball player, Johan Sabatian (spelling?), pitcher for the Mets is pitching against the Reds. He used to play for the Twins, David's favorite team and place where he grew up. Anyways, so I will have little time on Thursday morning to unpack. Friday and Saturday will be spent unpacking. Saturday night David and I have a wedding to go to. Sunday I am going to a Reds game again with a bunch of my friends, yes again bad timing! On Monday I leave for Chicago and will be gone until Friday. Now, I am taking a graduate course and we have 4 assignments due while I will be gone in Chicago, so I am working on trying to get those assignments finished. I am going to have to pack for Chicago one day too. Okay, now comes school. We can't get into the building yet which STINKS because I will have only one week from the time I get back to Chicago until I leave for Florida to set up my classroom. This is causing me major stress. I will never again go on vacation in August. I also have school stuff I need to do for next year. So, to make that long story short.... I have so much to do and so little time!

Happy Independence Day!

Even though the 4th of July was rainy and nasty, it was still a good day to celebrate our independence! Every 4th of July we have my dad's side of the families Family Reunion (I know that sentence was not grammatically correct). We have it in Sunrise, KY. For those of you who don't know where that is that's okay because it is really in the middle of nowhere! It is in Cynthiana, which is in Harrison County. My dad's family are mostly all farmers and most of them live there. It is called the Whitaker-King Family Reunion and yes, we have a song but I only know the chorus: "Three Cheers for the Whitakers and Kings" Repeat this 3 times and you now know the chorus too! Anyways, we went there for a potluck lunch which was delicious because everyone is such a good cook (I didn't bring anything I guess I could since I am 23 but hey my parents brought something!). It rained on the family reunion and I was wearing a white shirt but thankfully my cousin had a jacket in the car. After the reunion I came back to Lexington and joined all the fine citizens of Kentucky downtown for the music and fireworks. I went with some friends and once again got rained on. Thankfully we made it under the bridge before it poured. While downtown I saw big men without their shirts on, a baby whose diaper was sagging down to his/her knees, a cat fight between two girls, more drunk people then I can count, people who I could not determine if they were male or female, and many other wonderful sights. It was the best people watching place ever!!! I listened to John Michael Montgomery and watched the fireworks. It was a good day!

Strep on your face???

So who knew you could get strep on your face, arms, and legs?? Well if you are wondering...you can get it and guess what I have it!! Yes, I have a strep bacteria that has taken the form of a rash on my face, neck, chest, right arm, and both legs. Let me make a long story short. I woke up on Sunday with a few red dots between my eyes. I thought it was strange but hey I still get pimples so it didn't make that big of an impact. Well as the day progressed red dots began appearing on the left side of my face, on my right cheek, and down the side of my noes. By the end of the day I had these red dots on my neck and my chest. When I woke up today I had these fabulous red dots on my right arm and both legs. I went to class and got the "Are you feeling okay?" question. After a wonderful teacher/mom/teammate/classmate (Gayla) felt my forehead I realized  I had a fever. All of a sudden I started to feel really sick. One of the instructors came over and asked me how I was feeling b/c apparently I looked bad. She asked me if I was nauseous and I was extremely nauseous but I am nauseous a lot cause of my stomach issues. I never put two and two together that the rash, the nausea, and the fever were connected. I made a doctors appointment and at this appointment was informed that i had a strep infection on my skin. Apparently the strep bacteria can occur in your throat and on your skin. Who knew? I was also informed that the red dots might start oozing!!!! If they start oozing I am NOT going out in public for ANY reason!!! Hopefully the antibiotic  and cream they gave me will prevent this lovely happening from occurring.

Friday the 13th

Today is Friday the 13th, so the celebrate we (my friends and I) are getting together to have scary movie night. Now I HATE scary movies because I am the biggest woos ever! I will be covering my eyes the entire night. When David and I went to see "I Am Legend", I covered my eyes and ears and told him I wanted to go home (I didn't but at one point I wanted too). I do not do haunted houses because they scare the crap out of me. Last October I went to Louisville to visit a friend and her husband and brother convinced me to go through a haunted house. The crazy people with chain saws can sense the fear in me, so naturally the chase me and jump out at me. Anyways, back to the point... I am watching a scary movie tonight! The one highlight is that I made rice krispie treats to take with me and they look perfect. It usually takes me 3 batches to make good rice krispie treat but this time I did it on my first try! Yes, I know rice krispies only have 3 ingredients- butter, marshmellows, and rice krispies but they can be challenging to make. They can be too gooey or too hard, but this batch looks great. I don't know how they taste, but who cares they look yummy!

Soooo Productive

I was super productive today!!! I got up early and went to school to pack up my room. Now I am not finished packing up my room but it looks good compared to what it did look like. I moved my furniture (and got a bruise in the process) . I was at school from 9-4:30 working hard, minus the yummy lunch break. I ran to Target to pick up a new binder for next year lessons plans (I got a pink one) and then I came home, did a load of laundry, and went to the gym. I biked for 20 minutes as I read a book, it was lovely! Then I came back and went for an hour walk with a friend. We walked all over the neighborhood and chatted. When I came home I cooked myself some dinner and debated about what I wanted to do next. I ended up cleaning my room and organizing some things. Now I am watching the Bachelorette with some friends. What a productive day!!!!

It's been so long

I have been informed that Amish Bread is no longer interesting and that I need to post some new stuff. I have been super busy with grad school, but no one want to hear about that so on to the good stuff! I went to a wedding this past weekend of one of my friends from high school. It was so much fun to see everyone! We called it our mini 5 year reunion.  The wedding was at Southern Hills United Methodist and the reception was at Griffin Gate. We were served salad (the kind with the leaves that look like they came from the tree outside), a meat that we previously chose (I chose chicken), and desert. It was delicious! A live band was playing as we ate. The band was cool but they couldn't play all types of music so it was not that much fun for dancing. There was no cha cha slide or electric slide-both a must for a wedding! Everyone, including me, did bust it out for "Shout"! Now for the very important moment of the night.... I caught the bouquet! Let me recap for you how this happened. My friend said that if she caught the bouquet she would pass it to me because everyone thinks that David and I will be next. So we go up there and are in the back so we both figure that we wont catch it. Well, the bouquet was tossed and landed right at my friends feet. She picked it up and tossed it to me! All the boys started yelling, "Illegal pass.. dropped ball...illegal lateral pass." It was quite comical! Everyone got on David the rest of the night so it was totally worth it; you never know maybe I will be next. It was a really fun night- I love weddings!

Amish Friendship Bread

I did it- I made the Friedship Bread that Alyssa gave to me! Right now the bread is in the oven baking. I hope it turns out okay! I made a huge mess but finally got the bread made after 2 sperate trips to the grocery store to get items I forgot. If I turns out good then I can add this to the list (small list) of things I can cook!

Wow, its been a long time!

Well it has been a long time (like a week!) since I have updated my blog and I realized that is not good blogging practice! This past weekend I actually had fun plans for Friday night and Saturday night but..... I got strep! I had to cancel the trip to Louisville with a friend to visit another friend because I was contagious and then on Saturday David and I were going Kareoking (spelling???) but with strep it is kind of hard to sing! Oh and I forgot to mention that David had strep too. He thinks that I gave it to him, but I think he gave it to me. Whoever the germ spreader was they infected the other! We ended up spending the days together watching movies and moping around together since we both had strep. It was actually kind of nice to spend Friday-Sunday with him just hanging out. See for us hanging out during the day, or even that often, is a rarity because of our schedules. He goes to work at 2 and I technically get off at 2:35 (I usually don't leave school until 6 though). So even though I was sick and had to cancel my plans, I was able to spend time with my strep infected boyfriend!

Tomorrow night (Wed) I am going to the O.A.R concert at UK. I am super excited! David and I saw them this past summer and they were awesome, so I can't wait to see them again. They sing "Love and Memories" ( my favorite song) which used to be on the radio. I should have been listening to them in the car to prepare, but my ipod is being fixed so instead I get commercial filled radio. They are really good, you should listen to them. Their music always makes me happy because it is so upbeat. We have floor seats so we will be real close! I am sure my ear drums will still be ringing on Thursday.

Wonderful Weekend

I had an absolutely wonderful weekend! David had Friday and Saturday off, which he never does, so we were able to spend a bunch of time together. On Friday we went to the store and bought groceries and made spaghetti together. It was so much fun! Then we decided to try the red box at Kroger because everyone has been talking about how awesome it is. We rented "No Reservations", the cooking movie because for some reason David was thinking the movie was more comedy than chick-flic. Well he was wrong- it was totally more of a chic-flic! The movie was okay but I wouldn't watch it again (a good deal for a dollar though). On Saturday I slept in and then was productive in the afternoon. I went into school for 2 hours and got some things finished, I did a load of laundry, and did the dishes. Then Saturday night David and I had dinner with his family and went to see the movie "21". That is a good movie! It was really cool because the movie takes place in Las Vegas and I was able to recognize the places because I was just there. I felt pretty cool because during the movie, I kept saying to David, "Oh we saw that" or "Oh, we went there." Yes, I know I am a dork but these things excite me! Now I am sitting at my parents house enjoying my families company. What a wonderful weekend!

It it fun to add things to my blog! It is highly addicting and after a long day this is making me very happy!

Help!

How do I add links to other peoples blogs? I know that you all (you know who I am talking too!) will probably read this and can help me! I am a beginner at this so I need to be walked through the steps! Thanks!

Ok, so I officially joined the bloggers!

So, I have done it! I have broken down and joined those of you with blogs! I only decided to do this after I had no idea what everyone was talking about at lunch today. They were talking about Gayla's new bedroom and how beautiful it was and I was the only one who did not know what it looked like. Then they were talking about Jen's new baby news and Gayla told me to read the blog because it was to long of a story to tell (I am scoffing at you right now :)). Finally, they were talking about Alyssa's camping trip. So I hope you all feel bad about it!!!! Oh, my roomate and future roomate are laughing at me and keep asking "So, how's your blogging going!" I guess this is just like Facebook, so I am sure I will soon become addicted. I hope that I have enough interesting things to talk about.

P.S. Some of these girls on the Bachelor are morrons!!
